Ontstaan Nieuwe Dok. Het Oude droogdok dat een ongeschikte bodemconstructie heeft voor de drassige grond, is met moeite droog te houden.Het wordt grondig verbeterd en in plaats van de lekkende, houten schipdeur \u2018bateauporte\u2019 (in Medemblik gebouwd en hier naar toe gevaren) die het dok afsluit, komt een ijzeren exemplaar, dat op de werf is gemaakt. De bouw van een nieuw en groter dok is in 1866 gereed. Het Natte Dok wordt verlengd en de zeesluis en het dokkanaal (Boerenverdriet) worden verbeterd. Bij het Nieuwe Dok of Dok II komt een nieuw stoommachinegebouw met een grotere pomp die beide dokken moet bedienen.
