Summary

Description
English: A violet ray wand, a quack home medical appliance sold from the 1920s through the 1940s. It consists of a Tesla coil, a high voltage transformer producing 40 to 80 kilovolts at low amperage which is applied to an electrode in the partially evacuated tube. When operating the tube produces a dramatic violet glow. The tube was applied to various parts of the body; and was said to cure everything from carbuncles to lumbago. Prosecution of the manufacturers for making false medical claims shut down production around World War 2, although some are still produced as entertainment devices to this day. The only description on this device was the number Hochfrequenz 309.
