Text Appearing After Image:
INTERIOR FUNERAL CAR indeed as prevails among un<lerlakers, who will furnish aplain or expensive hearse and carriages, as may be desired. But in the case of the street car service, a hearse car andtwo passenger cars would comfortably provide for asmany people as would require no less than one hearse andtwenty carriages, which would cost in no case less tban$5 each, or over $ioo. On the other hand, the threecars could be furnished to make the same distance andreturn at not to exceed $20 if run in one train. Wherethe distance to a cemetery is as great as exists in Chicago, the charge for carriages would be more than the figureabove named. For the very poor, a combination carcould be furnished in most places at a cost of only five orsix dollars for transportation of casket and say eight orten persons, which would be about one-third the amountwhich would have to becharged for livery. It is notthe belief of the writer that inall places the charges for ser-\ice of funeral vehicles isgreatl
