English: Built at New York in 1839 by Brown & Bell for Grinnell, Minturn & Company's Swallowtail Lines, the "Patrick Henry" was one of the most popular and highly esteemed trans-Atlantic sailing ships to serve the New York-Liverpool-London trade. Philip John Ouless (British, 1817-1885), Oil on canvas, 26 3/4 x 37 1/2 inches. Signed with the artist's monogram "PJO" and dated 1859, l.r. In a gilt period frame.
