Summary

Description
English: Pastureland near Berrow A peaceful and tranquil agricultural scene now but between 1941 and 1945 this flat area of Worcestershire was home to the "Number 5 Satellite Landing Ground" or SLG Berrow. These were not proper aerodromes with paved runways but more secluded spots with grass landing strips. Replacement frontline aircraft could be stored or prepared hidden safely away in the natural landscape from the prying eyes of the Luftwaffe. SLG Berrow was also used for training glider pilots based at RAF Shobdon flying 'Hotspur' gliders.
