Description
English: Oldenburger Wall, a Slavic circular rampart in the community of Horst, Herzogtum Lauenburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. These are the remnants of a fortification dating from the 8th century AD, and attributed to the tribe of the Polabians. It is situated on a natural hill, the inner area is a clearing, and on the earthen embankment are trees, forming a conspicuous sight in the landscape. It has an inner diameter of 60 metres.
Deutsch: Der Oldenburger Wall, ein slawischer Ringwall auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Horst im Kreis Herzogtum Lauenburg (Schleswig-Holstein). Es handelt sich um die Reste einer Befestigungsanlage aus dem 8. Jahrhundert n. Chr., die dem Stamm der Polaben zugeschrieben wird. Sie befindet sich auf einer natürlichen Anhöhe; der innere Bereich ist nicht von Bäumen bewachsen, aber auf dem Erdwall stehen Bäume, so daß die Anlage einen auffälligen Anblick bietet. Der Innendurchmesser beträgt 60 Meter.
