Cover of the 1970 "USS Scorpion: Results of NOL Data Analysis."
This acoustics study of the SOFAR recordings of the Scorpion's sinking concluded that an uncontrolled descent below crush depth imploded it's hull and that a lack of shock wave or bubble pulse frequency effects proved that no internal or external explosions occurred. This is the last official analysis of the sounds of the Scorpion disaster.
