Comemoração do Dia Estadual do Maracatu O Dia Estadual do Maracatu, instituído em 1997, foi comemorado em 1º de agosto com a apresentação dos grupos olindenses Leão Coroado, Maracatudo Nação Camaleão, Badia, Maracatu Nação Estrela de Olinda, Maracambuco, Axé da Lua e Nação de Luanda, juntamente com algumas batucadas e outros representantes do ritmo.

Na data aconteceu uma sessão solene no Palácio dos Governadores. Também foram realizados diversos seminários e oficinas, numa realização da Secretaria de Patrimônio e Cultura de Olinda, em conjunto com o Instituto de Cooperação Econômica Internacional (ICEI), o Maracatudo Nação Camaleão e a Associação dos Maracatus de Olinda (AMO).
