English: Harvey Court (1961-62) is a Grade II* listed student residence block in Cambridge designed in Sir Leslie Martin’s office, and attributed to Colin St. John Wilson and Patrick Hodgkinson.
This refurbishment project involves the complete renovation of the building envelope and facilities. The student rooms are all provided with en-suite bathrooms, and two rooms are adapted for wheelchair users. Access is improved throughout the building, with a lift located by the new main entrance nearer the street. The common areas at ground level are also refurbished and improved. Other crucial repairs include waterproofing the terraces and podium roof, which has leaked since the building’s original construction, and adding insulation to improve environmental performance. All alterations to this important 20th century building are made with care and sensitivity.
