English: HNLMS Hydra (1873) drawing that shows the disappearing gun built according to the system invented by Alexander Moncrieff. The idea was that after firing, a muzzle loading gun was lowered in a covered position in order to reload.
Nederlands: Zr.Ms. Hydra (1873) ontwerptekening van het 'verdwijnende kanon' volgens het systeem van Alexander Moncrieff. Het principe was dat na het afvuren een voorlader kanon in een gedekte positie bleef staan om te herladen.
