Two No. 5Worthlngton steam pumps pump the feed waterthrough two Marshalls feed water heaters of 100horse power each. There are three compoundwound Siemens dynamos, giving 250 amperes eachat 500 volts, coupled directly to the engines, onone bed-plate. The shaft of each carries a fly-wheel 4 feet 3 inches in diameter. Two Siemens15 horse power motors are used for each car,geared to the oar axles with single reduction spurgearing working in oil. The steepest grade is on theNewtown line, where for ubout 350 yards there isa C per cent. rise. In other places there are somerather severe curves and grades.
