Notes Nell' Inventario della Villa del Poggio Imperiale del 1860-1861 il persona ggio effigiato è ricordato come "Luigi Antonio principe Palatino gran maes tro dell'Ordine Teutonico vestito di ferro" identificazione accettata anch e dalla Kunhn Stainhause (1941, p. 146 n. 16), mentre la Meloni (1980, p. 727, n. Ic807) lo crede dubitativamente un ritratto di Friedrich Wilhelm v on der Pfalz, anche questi fratello dell'Elettore Palatino Johann Wilhelm. L'opera fa parte di una serie, detta dei "Douven ovali", illustrante la famiglia completa dell' Elettore Palatino del Reno, marito di Anna Maria L uisa de' Medici, comprendente i genitori, i numerosi fratelli e sorelle co n relativi consorti, nonchè se stesso e la moglie. Eseguiti dal Douven e d alla sua bottega, sono divisi tra la Villa del Poggio Imperiale e i Deposi ti della Galleria Palatina (Meloni, 1980, p. 725).
