Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen bezieht sich auf das dem Ort namensgebene Rittergeschlecht derer von Wilmersdorff. Das Familiengeschlecht von Wilmersdorff ist seit 1802 ausgestorben. Der Legende nach wurde das Wappen durch den König von Frankreich Ludwig IX. (1214–1270) einst einem Ritter aus dem Geschlecht der "Wilmerstorffer" verliehen. Es zeigte einen mit einer Lilie verzierten Schild. Das Siegel Ludwigs IX. war die Lilie, das Zeichen der Bourbonen.
English: The arms are based on the arms of the former Lords of Wilmersdorff, in slightly different colours. The Lords of Wilmersdorff had their castle in the area until 1802. As with all arms of the Berlin districts, a mural crown with a small shield with the arms of Berlin may be used.
