Object history
Deutsch: Die Erle will die Herkunft des Ortsnamens erklären. Ellern - "Erlen", wo Erlen stehen. Der Volksmund nennt auch heute noch die Erlenbäume "Ellere". Der Schild weist auf die Grundherrschaft der Pfalzgrafen hin, wobei der goldene Reichsapfel als ein Symbol für die Kurwürde der Pfalz gilt.
