Summary

Description
English: Local area coronavirus restrictions ('local lockdown') first came into force for Blackburn with Darwen from 25 July 2020. On 21 August 2020 the UK Government announced more targeted action in local areas to curb the spread of coronavirus. For Blackburn with Darwen this meant the easing of restrictions in the southern part of the local authority area (Darwen), whilst enhancing measures in the northern part (Blackburn).[1] The more targeted approach to the north took effect from 22 August 2020, with the lifting of all restrictions to the south from 26 August 2020.[2]

This map show the 8 northern ward areas targeted for action from 22 August 2020 and remaining under restriction. These are:

  • Audley & Queen’s Park
  • Bastwell & Daisyfield
  • Billinge & Beardwood
  • Blackburn Central
  • Little Harwood & Whitebirk
  • Roe Lee
  • Shear Brow & Corporation Park
  • Wensley Fold
