The "Atomium" is a momument in Laeken near Brussels, erected to the there "World Exhibition 1958". The designer of this monument was the engeneer André Waterkeyn (1917-2005). The construction symbolizes a body-centered cubic crystal structure. Erected was the monument by the architects André and Jean Polak in 1957 at the Heysel-Plateau in Laeken near Brussels.
