Text Appearing Before Image: r. Wall andceiling colors are a light turquoise throughout withthe exception of the center piers dividing the twodining rooms which are a sand-dune color. The decorative scheme evolves around thetheme of the recent Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer produc-tion of The Harvey Girls which portrayed his-toric incidents in the lives of the famous waitressesof the western eighteen nineties. The dining roommural symbolizes a typical western desert townalong the reaches of the railway, while the 24foot long mural in the Cocktail Room characterizesthe goings on in the main set on the MGM lot.Paintings done on the set during the filmtakingby Doris Lee are hung strategically. Chinawarerepeats the desert motif by use of a stylized cactuson each piece. Planting by way of different species of desertcactii, Yucca and Joshua Trees, integrally placedboth inside and out, is spotlighted at night to givea play of patterns on wall and ceiling surfaces.
