English: Structural diagram of the cyclitol 1,2,3,4-cyclohexanetetrol (cyclohexane-1,2,3,4-tetrol, 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroxycyclohexane).
There are 10 stereoisomers with this structure, that differ on the position of the hydroxyls relative to the mean plane of the ring. Two of those (1,2,3,4/0 and 1,4/2,3) are achiral, and the other 8 constitute 4 enantiomer pairs. This count considers the ring planar, and does not take into account geometric isomerism due to distortion of the ring from planarity (the "boat" and "chair" conformations).
