Two of Varna's long lost cult DAC-CHAVDAR trolleybuses together, 508 (actually fleet no 50 with check number 8) as seen in this thread and 534 (fleet no 53 with check no 4) They ran alongside a fleet of standard blue Skoda 14Trs, much as Zlin's Macedonian bodied Sanos vehicles did in Czechoslovakia. I have a feeling that this vehicle had broken down as it did not seem to move. Or perhaps was a strategically placed spare vehicle?
Trolleybus operation commenced in Varna at the start of 1986 with 30 DAC Chavdar 317ETR vehicles on 6 routes, 81 82 83 84 86 88. By 1990, the network had contracted to 4 routes, losing the 81 and 84.
The DAC-Chavdar vehicles have been replaced by second hand SKoda 14 AND 15Tr vehicles from the Czech Republic. In 2006, the Bulgarian trolleybus fleets were like this...
