If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests[edit]
Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]
- SouthGate, Bath → SouthGate (currently a redirect instead to Southgate) (move · discuss) – unambiguous per WP:DIFFCAPS 162 etc. (talk) 00:01, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- RAF Saxa Vord → RRH Saxa Vord (currently a redirect back to RAF Saxa Vord) (move · discuss) – https://www.raf.mod.uk/our-organisation/places/ https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5803/cmselect/cmscotaf/1576/report.html https://nordri.co.uk/case-studies/saxa-vord-standby-power-amp-met-mast https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/mod-byelaws-shetland-islands RAF Saxa Vord is its former name. It used to be a RAF station, it is now a RRH station. The government, RAF, parliament all now refer to the site solely as RRH Saxa Vord, in line with the rest of the UK air defence sites RRH Neatishead RRH Staxton Wold RRH Benbecula etc. RAF is used for manned RAF stations. Saxa Vord is solely an unmanned Remote Radar Head (RRH). PAWPERSO (talk) 18:54, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- Liège (Chamber of Representatives constituency) → Liège (former Chamber of Representatives constituency) (currently a redirect back to Liège (Chamber of Representatives constituency)) (move · discuss) – Split article into two - one that existed until 2003 and covered the Arrondissement of Liège and another that has existed since 2003 and covers Liège Province Obi2canibe (talk) 22:18, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- Do the two have significantly different borders? If not, I think it's standard practice to leave them as one page. — Amakuru (talk) 07:21, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, the two constituencies are significantly different. This map shows the arrondissement (old constituency) within the province (new constituency). The area of the constituency increased from 797 km2 to 3,857 km2. The electorate increased from 400,000 to 725,000.--Obi2canibe (talk) 18:22, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Kim Mingyu (rapper) → Kim Min-gyu (rapper) (currently a redirect back to Kim Mingyu (rapper)) (move · discuss) – WP:NCKO and to have consistency with the disambiguation page Kim Min-gyu. 98𝚃𝙸𝙶𝙴𝚁𝙸𝚄𝚂 • [𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙺] 04:43, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- There is no requirement for consistency when it comes to people's names. We use the name most commonly found in reliable sources. In this case, I'd support a move to Mingyu (rapper). 162 etc. (talk) 15:45, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- @98Tigerius, any opposition to Mingyu (rapper)? ASUKITE 16:12, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- None. 98𝚃𝙸𝙶𝙴𝚁𝙸𝚄𝚂 • [𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙺] 01:24, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

- Astro Bot (2024 video game) → Astro Bot (currently a redirect back to Astro Bot (2024 video game)) (move · discuss) – Per consensus at Special:Permalink/1228040329#Requested move 5 June 2024. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:00, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Killing of Peter R. de Vries → Murder of Peter R. de Vries (currently a redirect back to Killing of Peter R. de Vries) (move · discuss) – people have been convicted of his murder Gimmethegepgun (talk) 18:15, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]
- Idiopathic ulnar neuropathy at the elbow → Ulnar neuropathy at the elbow (currently a redirect instead to Idiopathic Ulnar neuropathy at the elbow) (move · discuss) – Undiscussed page move, mostly has a cause. Also previously mentioned on talk page Iztwoz (talk) 09:28, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- While we can revert this, it's unusual for us to be selective about it (reverting the more recent move by one editor to another by the same editor, as opposed to reverting all of their moves, which is what we would normally do here), based on some of the talk page discussion disagreeing with the exact title (from what I see, two different editors having opinions on what considerations should go into the title), it might be beneficial to discuss this (but I'm not saying we have to, just offering input) ASUKITE 15:34, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
Contested technical requests[edit]
- Justine (de Sade novel) → Justine (Sade novel) (currently a redirect back to Justine (de Sade novel)) (move · discuss) – In the French naming custom, the particle "de" is not part of the last name and shouldn't appear when the first name or a title doesn't appear, e.g. Guy de Maupassant's last name would be Maupassant, etc. P. T. Tabayi (talk) 09:25, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- That doesn't seem to match common English usage. For example Charles de Gaulle is always De Gaulle, not Gaulle. Britannica also uses De Sade.[1] — Amakuru (talk) 15:25, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think it is Gaulle that doesn't match common English usage. You will find that the vast majority of works about Sade refer to him as such in the context we are talking about, from famous books, to famous essays, to even the English Wikipedia page of the writer itself. Taking a quick look at that page and its references will show that "Sade" is, beyond the correct linguistic choice, the common usage in literature and academia as well. P. T. - Spencer Dickinson (politician) → Spencer Dickinson (move · discuss) – Moved the page originally called "Spencer Dickinson" since it was just some random stub with 3x less pageviews per month, however the move left behind a redirect page so I cannot move this page. SusImposter49 (talk) 21:55, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- Not sure if that's a strong enough argument to declare the politician to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over the music project. That music article could be expanded, and the current name-only redirect could become a new disambig page, IMO. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 00:41, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- I created a dab at the base page name purely as a procedural matter to avoid WP:MISPLACED while this technical move request is being discussed. I have no opinion on the primary topic. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:22, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- @SusImposter49: This move is potentially controversial, so it would require a requested-move discussion, which you can begin by clicking "discuss" on your request. You can remove this request after opening a discussion (or if you do not want to continue). SilverLocust 💬 06:39, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- Could the music project be expanded? I was looking into its background just out of curiosity, I'd say it barely even qualifies a page of its own. But the disambig page is a fine solution. SusImposter49 (talk) 12:07, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

- Orange station (California) → Orange Transportation Center (currently a redirect back to Orange station (California)) (move · discuss) – This is the official name of the station, and other American train stations named "Transit Center" (such as Oceanside Transit Center) are named in this same manner on Wikipedia. OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 01:46, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- Contest this one, we don't particularly use the WP:OFFICIALNAME and need evidence that the present name isn't the common name. — Amakuru (talk) 11:50, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- Stygiomedusa → Stygiomedusa gigantea (currently a redirect back to Stygiomedusa) (move · discuss) – article title is Genus yet contents are of Species Phantomjelly (talk) 11:36, 10 June 2024 (UTC) Phantomjelly (talk) 11:36, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- This species is the only member of its genus, therefore per the guidelines at WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA, the current name is the correct one - "the article (if there is no common name) should go under the scientific name of lowest rank, but no lower than the monotypic genus". Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 12:15, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- Correct. YorkshireExpat (talk) 18:59, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

- Sadh Vaishnavism → Sat Vaishnavism (currently a redirect back to Sadh Vaishnavism) (move · discuss) – Spelling correction. The word "Sadh" has no meaning, it's "Sat" meaning "True" in Sanskrit. — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 07:04, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think at this point this needs a Wikipedia:Consensus, since the vice versa request Special:PermanentLink/1211121943#Requested move 7 October 2023 wasn't opposed. You have to click the discuss button for a proper community agreement. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:24, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- Pomona–Downtown station → Pomona Transit Center (currently a redirect back to Pomona–Downtown station) (move · discuss) – This is the official name of the station, and other American train stations named "Transit Center" (such as Oceanside Transit Center) are named in this same manner on Wikipedia. OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 01:19, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what the best thing is here... it seems like the common name for the Amtrak station is just "Pomona", while the MetroLink station is called "Pomona–Downtown". Not seeing that much coverage for "Pomona Transit Center", do you have sources confirming that? There are also Pomona stations elsewhere, so I wonder if the present name is just the best, as a sort of WP:NATURALDIS and it is the name of the MetroLink after all... — Amakuru (talk) 11:49, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
