IP editing -- context[edit]
we were chatting at WP:Teahouse I was curious about the context/reasoning for IP editing on wikipedia e.g. why do it legitimately , are there risks with normal editing, etc.
Also how does one retain a stable IP? do you do you edit from a VPN or static IP host somewhere? Tonymetz (talk) 17:41, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- I don't retain a static IP, @Tonymetz, it changes at the whim of fate and whatever service provider I'm currently using. I don't mind. For a semi-humorous explanation of why I prefer it, see Association of Good Faith Wikipedians Who Remain Unregistered on Principle. In a few months, IP masking is going to be implemented (see here) which may or may not change how I and a few other long-term IP editors interact with Wikipedia. We shall see! 57.140.16.57 (talk) 17:48, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

A kitten for you![edit]
QwertyForest has given you a kitten! Kittens promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Your kitten must be fed three times a day and will be your faithful companion forever! Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a kitten, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
Spread the goodness of kittens by adding {{subst:Kitten}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message, or kittynap their kitten with {{subst:Kittynap}}.
It's nice to see a constructive IP user here. I offer you a kitten! QwertyForest (talk) 21:09, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
