My bot, EditorBot, was for approval at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/EditorBot, but it failed. The Bot account is reserved, however, and whether or not it will ever be used remains a mystery.

Welcome to my user page. You really should be editing right now. So why are you wasting your time reading this sentence? I could just go on an on about myself, but why should I? Since you are still here right now, I will welcome you under this comfy blanket.

Apparently only 56 or soWikipedians have created more articles than me.

About Me[edit]

I started editing under this account shortly after the New Year, 2008, after editing under an IP for a while. My username is derived from that of User:Destroyerofthewiki, a sockpuppet of User:DavidYork71. Instead of destroying the wiki, I want to edit it, and I would have chosen a better username, but all the good ones are taken. I think that I did quite well with what's left, don't you think?

I have been active member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Earthquakes. I don't really have much of a liking of these destructive ruptures, in case you're wondering. They are pretty fun to write about however. My time there has not been wasted: I basically wrote FA 2002 Bou'in-Zahra earthquake (with some copyediting help and some small additions, mostly from User:Ceranthor) and GA 1992 Nicaragua earthquake (also written from scratch--this was speedied while a stub!).

I have also been active writing basketball articles, among other subjects.

I will tell you nothing about my personal life, since I don't know who you are, except I am a male human from the Planet Earth who was born sometime in the 20th century.

I am a bit of a linguist, as demonstrated by my languageboxes below:

Tip of the Day[edit]

How to insert a picture into an article

The syntax used for displaying an image is:

[[File:{name}|{type}|{location}|{size}|{alt=}|{caption}]]

Only [[File:{name}]] parameter is required.
Do not put spaces between parameters. The other parameters are optional and can be placed in any order. Some infoboxes do not require the brackets. Keep parameters in lower case. The other parameters are:
Type
'thumb' / 'thumbnail' or 'frame'. This causes image to be displayed with specific formatting. "thumb" is normally preferred.
Location
'right', 'left', 'center' or 'none'. Determines placement of the image on the page. "Left" or "right" is the norm, but large panoramas or timelines can be displayed in the center.
Size
{width}px or {width}x{height}px (e.g. 50x40px, would limit width to 50 pixels and height to 40 pixels). Normally only one variable is used. Use common sense when determining the sizes; you can use the "Show preview" button if you need to. If thumb or thumbnail is chosen, size should normally be left out, so that the size defaults to the size set in a user's preferences.
alt=
(keep it lower case). This is the "alternate image" parameter used to describe the image for screenreaders or for people with low-vision. It should be more descriptive than the caption alone. Do not use this for another copy of the caption or of the article title, as the reader will already be aware of these.
Caption
Any element which cannot be identified as one of the above is automatically treated as caption text. It is traditional to put this last. The caption should identify what the image is, and ideally be a complete sentence that adds to the article by pointing out something a casual reader would not have noticed otherwise, or add information the pertains to the image. Full sentence or multi fragment captions require full stop punctuation.

If you have created a picture that is not already in Wikipedia's image collection on the Commons that you want to include in an article, you will need to upload it first. Bonus tip: Similar formatting is used to insert basic audio or basic video clips into articles.

Wreckage from the Battle of Villers-Bocage
Wreckage from the Battle of Villers-Bocage

The Battle of Villers-Bocage took place in Normandy, France, on 13 June 1944 during World War II. Following the D-Day landings on 6 June, the Germans established defences in front of Caen. The British attacked to attempt to exploit a gap in the German defences west of the city. They reached Villers-Bocage without incident in the morning but were ambushed by Tiger I tanks as they left the town and numerous tanks, anti-tank guns and transport vehicles were destroyed. The Germans then attacked the town but were repulsed. The British withdrew west of Villers-Bocage that evening and repulsed another attack the next day. The British conduct in the battle was controversial because their withdrawal marked the end of the post–D-Day "scramble for ground" and the start of an attritional battle for Caen. Some historians wrote that the British attack was a failure caused by a lack of conviction among some senior commanders; others judged the British force to be insufficiently strong for the task.
