BAMBII

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BAMBII is a Canadian DJ and producer,[1] who won the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2024 for her EP Infinity Club.[2]

She rose in popularity through the Toronto nightclub scene.[3] In June 2023 she performed at Melbourne's Rising arts festival.[4] Around that time, Pitchfork characterized her as "a queer club innovator whose exhilarating, rave-ready songs exist at the crossroads of jungle, dancehall, drum’n’bass, and UK garage."[5]

Infinity Club was released in August 2023. The release was rated four out of five stars by NME.[6]

Biography[edit]

According to BAMBII, she first began DJing whilst broke after having dropped out of school.[7][unreliable source?] She has described having thrown illegal raves with her friends. Later in her life after achieving success, she toured Europe and Asia.[7][unreliable source?]

BAMBII has described herself as having political views on gender, race, capitalism, and a 'child-like approach to nearly everything I do'.[7][unreliable source?]

"When I first started DJing I was broke, dropped out of school and using a laptop that was SO broken and overheating I had to carry around a literal BAKING dish , towel, and a giant bag of ICE to every single club I played in . I would put it under the laptop to get it to work long enough to play for an hour lmao. I did this for 8 months until I bought a new one ALSO u didn't mention ANY of my terrible exes or the iconic illegal raves me and my friends threw while being targeted by the police lol Also left out: ALL MY TALES OF TOURING CRAZY EUROPE AND ASIA my views on gender, race, capitalism, and my child like approach to nearly everything I do lol I can be reached for further consultation lol💋".
