Sarocha Chankimha (Thai: สโรชา จันทร์กิมฮะ; born 8 August 1998), more commonly known by her nickname Freen (Thai: ฟรีน), is a Thai actress, model and singer.[1]
Chankimha began her acting career with the drama series So Fit (2021) and Secret Crush on You (2022). She received greater recognition with lead role in Gap: The Series (2022) and The Loyal Pin (2024). Her film roles include Uranus 2324 (2024).
Early life and education[edit]
Chankimha was born on 8 August 1998 in Bangkok, Thailand, and is the only child in a Buddhist family. Her parents got divorced when she was still very young. During her teenage years, she worked multiple jobs to support her mother financially. She's the owner of two businesses called Lightnight Candles and NinetyTwo.
Chankimha attended High School at La Salle School Bangkok. For her post-secondary education, she graduated from the College of Communication Arts at Rangsit University, with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communication.[2] She had a strong inclination towards a career in the corporate sector.[3] She was also awarded First Class Honours for her academic achievement.
Career[edit]
In 2016, Chankimha competed in Miss Teen Thailand and was one of 15 finalists, receiving an award.[4] During the contest she was given the opportunity to be the host of Miss Teen Thai and Girl Daily program.[5]
After completing her graduate degree, she decided to pursue her career in the Thai entertainment industry so she started auditioning at various talent agencies and finally signed a contract with Idol Factory. Her first acting break was in the music video "Before Rain" by Thai recording artist The Toys. In 2020 she guest starred in the TV show Sosat Seoulsay.
She made her acting debut in the Thai drama industry in 2021 with the romantic-comedy drama So Fit as Bing, the female lead.[6][7]
In early 2022 she played a supporting role in Secret Crush on You.[8][9] In the same year, Chankimha raised a high fan following for her character Sam in Thailand's first Girls' Love series Gap,[10] which surpassed 500 million views on YouTube.[11] Her performance gained her widespread fame internationally and multiple awards.[12][13][14] She also sang "Whisper" for Gap OST.
In 2024 she signed with The Venture Management.[15]
