Template:Baby Boomer Toys (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Extremely unfocused, massive template that seems half OR more than anything else. Purportedly this template collects together the iconic toys of "baby boomers," but its more a list of films, television series, and comics from 1946-1964 more than any specific toys. I see no navigational purpose to having this template at all. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 14:39, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

KEEP. Nominator has been "following me around" nominating my work for deletion. She recently nominated two articles (for which I did considerable work) for deletion and wiki consensus shot her down. She has been reverting, rephrasing, deleting, and repositioning my work in articles all of 2 very short minutes after I save the page! An administrator had to step in on one occasion to tell her to cool it. She doesn't like me for some reason and wants me banned. Read through her archives; she has difficulty treating people in a courteous manner and gets people riled. Sorry to bring this up here. *sigh* It's so very sad. All I want to do is good work for WP but all I get is one person following me around nominating my work for deletion. Collectonian could have gone to my talk page and addressed her concerns about this template. But no, slapping it up on the TfD page is the way to go, I guess. *sigh* I would never do something like that to another Wikipedian. I would go to the user's talk page and say, "I don't understand this. Maybe I'm missing something? Could you explain, etc." before I'd slap someone's else's good faith work up on a "deletion" board. Maybe it's the stress of the upcoming election, or the economy or something. At least I've had an opportunity to express myself and "get it off my chest". ItsLassieTime (talk) 16:40, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note, ItsLassieTime is the creator of the template, and stripped out much of its contents after this TfD was filed. I still, however, do not see this as being a valuable template for navigation purposes and question its accuracy and verifiability. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 16:44, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, Collectonian isn't a female. :-P Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 18:29, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I am. And, ItsLassieTime, you've already been warned repeatedly to stop the false accusations of stalking. And just because its good faith doesn't mean its useful or appropriate. And just because you would never nominate anything for deletion does not make it wrong for the rest of editors to follow Wikipedia guidelines and do so. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:43, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, someone told me you were/n't. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 19:27, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Collie, I looked at your user page. You're involved in some sort of VERY UGLY arbitration dispute with another editor who accuses you of stalking and harassing! Some people don't like your WP manner. I think you should take that into consideration. God didn't put us in this world to act uncivilly to others! And PS, there are admins here who are NOT impressed with big boastful displays of one's "accomplishments". Gold stars, tassels, bells and whistles don't mean a fig. ItsLassieTime (talk) 19:21, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And, maybe you should try actually READING. He is the one who has been stalking and harassing me since May. This has been confirmed by ArbCom and he is being dealt with accordingly. As for the rest, I don't appreciate you calling me a dog and this isn't the place for your hysterical BS so drop it already. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:27, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Why would that guy stalk and harass you? I noticed you put a nasty note about me on your user page. That wasn't very WP:CIVILITY and I'm going to complain to the admins. I don't have trouble with other people around here like you do. Remember, there are a lot of admins who are NOT impressed with big boastful displays of "accomplishments" and that sort of thing doesn't intimidate them. • Delete. This is not a clearly defined subject. Even without all the cruft that's obviously not toys removed, it's still an unfocused and subjective grab-bag of stuff. As a navigation template, it has no apparent value. - Jason A. Quest (talk) 20:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Template's contents are original research, pointless, and completely US-biased. This is an international encyclopedia; heaven forbid we end up with articles stuffed with templates listing "iconic toys" in every country to every generation. Somno (talk) 11:13, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong delete; subjective OR, encouraging another edit to create similar templates and categories for other generations. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 18:58, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No real use for these beyond an article on the specific games or possibly on seasons. In either case, this is a really bad precedent to set. No widespread use possible. WoohookittyWoohoo! 05:23, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep All I am planning on using them in 2008 Cleveland Browns season after I finish the other games. They are much more organized than the scoring summaries that are in the article now Frank Anchor Talk to me 18:13, 28 October 2008 (UTC) [reply]
  • Comment due to their relatively small size, it may be better if I add the boxes to the season articl rather than making up 16 individual templates. I still strongly disagree with the nominator's comments that this would not be a good prescedent to set. widespread use of these "templates" is possible Frank Anchor Talk to me 02:24, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Additional Comment I tagged all of these templates, including the two not on this list, as CSD:G7 (author requests deletion) Frank Anchor Talk to me 02:33, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
