Quite a few here, same reasoning for all, which is to bring them in line with the naming system which is more commonly used, and official:

Almost always reffered to using the rocket name as well as the spacecraft. I have never (untill today) seen them without a hyphon as well.

Also, there were unmanned Mercury-Atlas flights with the designations 3 & 4 as well, so it will help to eliminate confusion. --GW_Simulations_{|User Page | Talk | Contribs | E-mail} 20:33, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good move[edit]

Renaming the Project Mercury mission pages is long overdue. The simple Mercury n designation only works barely because of the lack of overlap between the manned Mercury Redstone and Mercury Atlas flights.

Actually the official NASA designations were LJ-n, MR-n, MA-n, and BJ-1. As a researcher with a large interest in Project Mercury (see my wiki just on this subject [1] I've looked at a lot of both original and secondary documentation on Project Mercury.

I've tended to see MA-6 more than Mercury Atlas 6, and Mercury Atlas 6 more than Mercury-Atlas 6. However since the articles seem to have been moved to titles with the hyphenated form, it's okay with me.

I'm now in the process of trying to track down references to the old Mercury n articles which now point to either redirects or disambiguation pages and fix them. --Rick 15:24, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
