Interesting idea[edit]

I can see use for it on several of my articles. One nitpick: It would be nice to add a parameter that replaces "draw" with "tie" on the explanation as needed. There may be a need for several more optional parameters as well. In hockey alone, many leagues currently or formerly use up to four parameters. The NHL's current notation is wins-losses-overtime/shootout losses. Historically (and currently in the AHL), it was wins-losses-overtime losses-shootout losses or wins-losses-ties-overtime losses. (for example, see the infobox on 1999–2000 Calgary Flames season) Resolute 23:01, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Won-Lost Records[edit]

A more parallel term is won-lost records, as in "how many games has the team won; how many games has the team lost." I supposed win-loss records derives from "how many wins; how many losses." PlaysInPeoria (talk) 22:54, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

W-D-L[edit]

Is there a parameter which allows the output from this template to be shown in the order W-D-L? This is the default format used in football (soccer) basically everywhere in the world except North America, but if you enter w=10, d=6 and l=4, it shows as "a 10-4-6 record", which a European fan would interpret as something different to what was actually entered...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 13:52, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Prototyped the necessary changes to add a wdl parameter that, if containing any value, re-orders the results. See User:Oznogon/Template:Win-loss record, with results in User:Oznogon/Template:Win-loss record/sandbox. An example: WLD, 1–2–3 vs. WDL, 1–3–2. -Oznogon (talk) 18:24, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
