Link for undefined types?[edit]

I notice the template code links to the type article if it exists and shows unlinked text if the type article doesn't exist (e.g. {{Whyte|4-4-0}} displays as 4-4-0, while {{Whyte|6-6-0}} displays as 6-6-0). Should we link undefined types to Whyte notation instead (so {{Whyte|6-6-0}} would display as 6-6-0)?

This question comes up from a discussion about article links on WT:TWP. Slambo (Speak) 14:27, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Add Petrol Hydraulic[edit]

I was adding the Whyte template to Downs Light Railway. It has one locomotive which is an 0-6-0 with a Petrol Hydraulic drive. The Whyte template has DH for Diesel Hydraulic, could someone add PH for Petrol Hydraulic? Thanks 157.131.122.202 (talk) 22:56, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Aarya236b:  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. GoingBatty (talk) 16:43, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
