Planned changes[edit]

This template needs some attention and I'd like to make changes to address the following issues:

  • The link for World Championship only works for men's teams.
  • Most of the pages using this template don't provide values for every required parameter. They should be optional or hidden if blank.
  • Width should be a fixed value similar to the 23em used in the {{MedalTableTop}} template for consistency and usability.
  • Also the general appearance should be similar to the above mentioned template or {{Infobox handball biography}}.

Proposed code changes include:

  • Add a new optional parameter type that accepts the values W for women's teams and M for men's teams. Defaults to M to avoid breaking existing pages.
  • Add a new optional parameter country to standardize the display of the team's name. It will display flag and name, ex: United Nations United Nations.
  • Add a new parameter updated to display last update date.
  • Use conditional rows for every parameter except: Association, Coach, Colours and update information.
  • Add section headings for clarity and ease of use.
  • Apply colors.

I have already implemented a version with the proposed changes on my Userspace, and it's available for testing in my Sandbox. It shows current version vs proposed version with current values vs proposed version with new values.
