Question[edit]

It may take some advanced coding but it should be possible. Can we have it so that below the image of the trophy or logo or whatever, you can have two images put next to each other which present the logos of the teams playing each other ONLY in the case of a bilateral series. I was thinking using a board1 and board2 parameter. Then if you don't have a suitable image you can use the images of the teams together. It should end up having pics next to each other like the following:

File:Ashes urn.jpg

well, we could have it like this-
how about this? i tried to make them into cells but couldn't since its a infobox and not a wikitable, but if anyone could add two cells for the two pics that be good--Thugchildz
No that's brilliant, I didn't want the cells. Nobleeagle [TALK] [C] 00:24, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, the text part of the infobox should contain text only, not pictures. Nobleeagle [TALK] [C] 00:01, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Values[edit]

Hey. I think we may as well discuss all of this since it keeps on getting reverted.

  • There is no need for two extra pictures on any article. I've never seen an infobox (besides a taxobox) with more than one image. Too many images clutter up the infobox and make it longer than it should be. Cricket board logos are not allowed to be used anywhere except on one page (I've been tapped on the shoulder doing just that in the past, so trust me on that one).
  • Colour options look messy and destroy consitency between articles. I think we should remove those values altogether. They are NOT going to be used anywhere. Decoration is unnecessary and is looked down upon around here (by others too, trust me on this one again).

What do you think about these? Cheers, --mdmanser 12:38, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well i dont see any need for them to be removed though. it doesnt do any harm. The two images doesn't have to logos and just can be use as a lead picture like so just keep them no harm in them.--Thugchildz
It doesn't do any harm visually but it does take up bandwidth because the entire userbox needs to be loaded with or without those values set in place. If they're removed it could save a bit of money as well as keep Wikipedia running faster as a whole. There only needs to be one lead picture per article. That's why they call it a "lead picture" in singular. --mdmanser 12:47, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
well those will be used somehow though. The editor above asked for it so I have made it. Those values not take much bandwith for it needing to be removed. Just let it stay like it is now.:)--Thugchildz
Yep, he did ask for that. But as we've now established in this discussion, logos are not allowed in template namespace. So when he said "Can we have it so that below the image of the trophy or logo or whatever, you can have two images put next to each other which present the logos of the teams playing each other," he mustn't have realised this is not allowed anyway. And no, it doesn't take a lot of bandwidth per page view, but after thousands of views it does add up quite quickly. It won't ever be used so please, let me just remove it this one time. --mdmanser 13:09, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
you forgot to read-"if you don't have a suitable image you can use the images of the teams together" so let it be man.--Thugchildz
My bad. Still, there aren't any pages using it at the moment. I don't think there would be any examples either. I don't see the point of keeping it in... Please mate... --mdmanser 13:24, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right. Instead of reverting my entire edit, how about you just change the intricate bits that you don't like? All of my formatting from the previous infobox continues to be removed as well as some other things in the box. Just take note that NO infobox that I have come across uses coding like this. Colours and decorations detract from the quality of an article and defeat the purpose of one uniform style between articles. I certainly dislike these bgcolour options but I'll let it go for now. In a few days time though I will come back and take note of any progress these colour options have in actual article space. Then I'll make a decision what stays and what goes. --mdmanser 13:48, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

123.49.42.131 (talk) 09:40, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This template already has that feature. Did you mean to post this request somewhere else? Algebraist 09:51, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Thewildakshay, 2 April 2011[edit]

Please change the World Cup {Current Champions} display to India as it shows France who they not actually are. The Current World Cup Champion is India. France doesn't even plays cricket.

Thewildakshay (talk) 20:05, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: I'm not sure where you're looking, but this is a general template to show information on any cricket tournament. For instance, on the 2011 Cricket World Cup article, it shows India as champions. If the inputs used to call the template are wrong, please put your edit request on the article's talk page or let us know which article it is here and reopen the request. Thanks, — Bility (talk) 23:30, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Abhishekgoel80, 6 May 2011[edit]

Pakistan has been put has the current champion which is false. It is India. Also Pakistan has been mentioned as the champion for maximum period which is false again. It should be Australia. Abhishekgoel80 (talk) 11:31, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: This is a 'formatting template' to provide a set layout for whatever page it's used on. Specific information is contained in the relevent article rather than this template. - Happysailor (Talk) 11:40, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from 151.191.175.207, 11 May 2011[edit]

Current Champion and most successful team is erroneously displaying Pakistan which should be corrected!

151.191.175.207 (talk) 20:32, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This template is transcluded into many articles and it is at the article where the current champion and most successful team fields are set. You would need to fix these on whichever article you saw them, as we can do nothing from here. — Bility (talk) 20:58, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please can width be limited?[edit]

The problem is illustrated by Port City Cricket League 2010, with text size set to "largest" in the browser. It looks as if the infobox may not be wrapping text, but instead taking its width from the longest line of text. (Evidence for this is given by the box width changing when you alter your browser's text width.) Please could it limit its width, wrapping text where necessary to achieve this? --Stfg (talk) 14:21, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 20 December 2011[edit]

The website link routes to the srilankan premier league site. Please change it to www.bigbash.com.au. Thanks and i appreciate the change.

Cheers

You are able to make the edit yourself at Sri Lankan Premier League. --Jnorton7558 (talk) 16:48, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 30 April 2012[edit]

In the top right box/template, please change player with the Most Runs from 'Sachi' to 'SK Raina'. There is no player named 'Sachi' and SK Raina of the Chennai Super Kings is the leading run scorer in the IPL. Hi, please make your request on the talk page of the article where you found this information. This template is widely used by all cricket tournament articles and isn't the place to make this change. Thanks, — Bility (talk) 21:46, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Host[edit]

I have added the field "Host" in the template especially for tourneys such as the Angelo De Mello trophy and the Pataudi trophy as the host remains fixed for these tourneys. However I am not able to work on the documentation part - not able to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gurubrahma (talk) 17:57, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
