Punctuation[edit]

"- you may wish to remove this template for a more accurate example, if you do ensure to add it back." should be punctuated as "– you may wish to remove this template for a more accurate example; if you do ensure to add it back." That is, the hyphen should be an en dash (– not -) according to WP:DASH, and the comma should be a semicolon according to comma splice. Of course I usually make such changes myself, but I don't know how much of the text is read by the software here. Art LaPella (talk) 19:24, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Queue name[edit]

{{editprotected}} I'm not sure about the best way to solve this... but on the queue subpage the "here" link works, but on the top page it doesn't. Worm 09:42, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On the separate queue pages it works because it detects the queue number from the page name. However it can't do this on Template:Did you know/Queue. The only way it could work is by feeding a parameter to the template, e.g. {{DYKbotdo|queue=5}} or similar. Alternatively we could suppress that sentence when it is displayed on /Queue. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:10, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I chose the second option as it is much simpler. I also hid the template completely when it appears on these preview pages. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:59, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Protected edit request on 7 August 2016[edit]

Could you please make this template not display on Wikipedia:Main Page/Day after tomorrow, a page I just updated from the ancient {{Did you know/Next next update}}.

Pppery (talk) 16:40, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Pppery: Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 21:10, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
To accomplish my previous request, the template code could be simplified to
{{#ifeq:{{FULLBASEPAGENAME}}|Template:Did you know/Queue|
  <!-- Only show on DYK Queue pages -->
  {{mbox
    |image = [[Image:Crystal Clear action run.svg|60px]]
    |text = The hooks below have been approved by an administrator and will be automatically added to the DYK template at the appropriate time. {{#iferror: {{#expr:<includeonly>{{SUBPAGENAME}}+</includeonly>1}}|
     |Click [[Wikipedia:Did you know/Preview/{{SUBPAGENAME}}|here]] for an example of what these hooks will look like on the main page - you may wish to remove this template for a more accurate example, if you do ensure to add it back.
    }}
}}
The mbox listed is equivalent to the current template code. Pppery (talk) 22:03, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Pppery I am looking at that code and I am not sure if it does what you are wanting. And since in over ten days nobody has attended I am going to recommend that you ask at WT:DYK which is a more trafficked page for input. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:02, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Jo-Jo Eumerus, FYI, I used the sandbox and was able to accomplish the goal of not showing on Wikipedia:Main Page/Day after tomorrow in case you feel like making the edit. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 21:03, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Spaced hyphen[edit]

Can we please change the spaced hyphen to a spaced en-dash in keeping with our Manual of Style? We're better off practicing what we preach. The Rambling Man (talk) 10:47, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@The Rambling Man: I've made the change. For next time, consider using {{edit fully-protected}} so that you can get the attention of an admin sooner. Best — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 23:59, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Display name of approving admin?[edit]

At the moment this template includes the signature of the admin who approved the DYQ set, and that's visible when you click on the edit button. The actual displayed version on the page does not contain the admin detail though. Is there a reason for that? It would be useful for me to be able to see that at a glance, because sometimes I've approved one or more queues and forget which specific ones they are. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 13:25, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have gone ahead and  Done this change, since nobody has raised any objections... (although nobody has commented in support either, hah). If there is any issue with this, please let me know or revert.  — Amakuru (talk) 12:37, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
