wstitle parameter[edit]

As has been done for many of the other templates that cite WS, I would like for us to consider the addition of $wstitle. However, it cannot just be done outright as the current $2 would then become $1, and this fouls things up. See Template:Cite_SBDEL/testcases. There are two ways to fix this: 1) to remove $2 completely and put all comments outside the template; or 2) to put in a named parameter for the comment. Either way this would require a run through of all uses of the template with a bot.

Personal opinion is that a template cite can probably do without a comment when it can suffix the template anyway, as noted in the documentation. billinghurst sDrewth 09:27, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Latter thought is whether we should update this template to utilise {{cite encyclopedia}} billinghurst sDrewth 11:03, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, this is an early design. The comment can definitely go outside, and $2 removed completely. I don't work with bots at this point, so I will leave that to someone else. I actually can't imagine there are many, if any, instances that use the comment facility, as I think originally I copied it over from another design without having any need for it myself. Once the bot has done its work, if such work is needed, wstitle can be introduced. Building on {{Cite encyclopedia}} would also seem the way to go, not on {{Cite wikisource}}.
