I am having a tough time understanding this graphic and I believe a few changes would make it more helpful. The notation -132km refers to the last reading of the Galileo probe. I think the "surface" is conventionally set to be at 1 bar, so perhaps the 103 line (near where the NH3 clouds are) should be labeled 0 km for clarity's sake.

The other problem I have is with the apparent temperature readings for high up in Jupiter's atmosphere. Is it really that hot up there, or are these just the heat of the probe entering into Jupiter at high speed? If it is the atmospheric temperature, why? I realize that these may be my failures of understanding and not the fault of the graph, but I would like some clarification in what is being measured here.--Kenmayer (talk) 16:17, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
