Acceleration[edit]

Does this have to be called acceleration, even though the units are correct?

It's more relevant to call it the gravitational field strength: Newtons per kilogram.

Acceleration is what happens to an unrestrained mass in a gravitational field.

"Gravity acceleration" is also a poor term; it's not clear whether it refers to acceleration due to gravity, or acceleration of gravity (nonsense).
