Summary

English: Montaged segments of USGS geodetic survey map of southern Nevada, USA, showing Groom Dry Lake and surrounding area. Note that the secret Area 51 base, which satellite photographs confirm is located on the west and south shores of the lake, and its runways built over the lakebed, are not drawn on the USGS map.

Method of production: using NASA World Wind, I downloaded a selection of detailed (uncopyrighted) USGS maps of the area. Then I montaged these together with Adobe Photoshop. Note that the subtly different projection characteristics of each component map mean that the final montage is imperfect, with errors of a few pixels visible at several points on the map.
