Summary

Description

The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) underway. Franklin D. Roosevelt, with assigned Attack Carrier Air Wing 6 (CVW-6), was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea from 29 January to 28 July 1971.

This was the only deployment on which Kaman HH-2D Seasprites of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 2 (HC-2) Det.42 were assigned to CVW-6. One HH-2D is visible just behind the starboard elevator.
