English: Three private Lifestar ambulances on stand-by service at a Washington Nationals major league baseball game at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., in the United States. The D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department has so few ambulances that it must contract with private companies to provide emergency medical services at sporting events. The cost is about $2,500 per game.
Note the DCFEMS Brush Unit in the background. The Brush Unit provides services for wildfires (grasslands, trees, bushes, etc.). It is unclear why this unit is delegated to the baseball game (where there is no brush, tress, or grass). |
