English: Bacillus subtilis mass-swarming outwards on a gel substrate from the mother colony visible at the top middle. Time in the lower right is counted in H:M from inoculation, and swarming started at 11:35 (256 minutes before this picture was taken). The swarming dendrites are preceded by a circular ring of surfactant produced by the bacteria. Français : Migration en masse de Bacillus subtilis sur gelose à partir de la colonie mère en haut au centre. Le temps est indiqué en H:M depuis l'inoculation, la migration ayant commencé à 11:35 (soit 256 minutes avant cette image). Les dendrites formées par les bactéries sont précédées d'un anneau d'un surfactant produit par B. subtilis. Deutsch: Schwärmen von Bacillus subtilis auf Agar ausgehend vom kreisförmigen Inokulum in der Mitte oben (Durchmesser ca. 4mm). Die Zeit unten rechts (in Stunden:Minuten) zählt ab Inokulation, das Schwärmen selbst hat erst um 11:35 begonnen (d.h. 256 Minuten vor diesem Bild). Die ringförmige Struktur 2-3mm vor den Spitzen der verästelten Arme des Schwarms markiert die Ausbreitung von Tensiden, die B. subtilis produziert. |
