Summary

Description La gorge de Vintgar fut découverte en 1891 par Jakob Žumer, maire de Gorje, et par Benedikt Lergetporer cartographe et photographe. Ils y trouvèrent une nature tellement splendide qu'ils décidèrent de fonder un comité d'aménagement du site. La gorge fut ainsi aménagée pour les visites. L'inauguration publique eut lieu le 26 août 1893. La gorge de Vintgar, longue de 1,6 km, est creusée entre deux montagnes escarpées, Hom et Boršt. La rivière Radovna avec ses cascades, ses parties calmes et profondes et ses rapides vient y ajouter son charme. Le chemin mène les visiteurs par des ponts et les galeries de Žumer, et se termine par un dernier pont en surplomb de la puissante et rugissante cascade de Šum, haute de 16 mètres.
