Summary

Description
English: SALMAN SAVAJI (D. 1396 AD): DIWAN

SAFAVID IRAN, 16TH CENTURY WITH LATER ADDITIONS

Poetry, Persian manuscript on cream paper, 157ff. each with 15ll. of black nasta'liq script arranged in two columns with double intercolumnar and interlinear rules, catchwords, opening folio with illuminated headpiece in colours and gold, eight miniatures in archaic style painted later over text and probably contemporary with the illuminated headpiece, one folio detached, colophon mentions the date AH 797 (1394-5 AD), in black morocco with stamped central medallion Text panel 7 x 4¼in. (17.7 x 10.7cm.); folio 10 x 6½in. (25.4 x 17cm.)

The colophon here gives the date of 8 Rabi' al-Thani AH 797 (30 January 1395 AD). This date however must have been taken directly from the original from which this was copied. Stylistically, this manuscript appears to date from the 16th century.
Date 16th century (with later additions)
