DescriptionReverend Dr. Oliver Lyseight 1920 -2006.jpg
English: Reverend Oliver Lyseight 1920 -2006 . Founder member and leader of the New Testament Church of God (UK). Oliver Lyseight was born in Jamaica and came to Britain after the Second World War, when Britain's labour market was depleted, and the British Government invited workers from all over the British Empire to help rebuild post-war Britain. The Reverend Lyseight was a key figure amongst the Caribbean immigrant community who came to work and settle in Wolverhampton.
When faced with local racism Rev. Lyseight supported the Caribbean community to practise their faith in peace and tranquility by founding the New Testament Church of God in Wolverhampton: the first such church in Britain. The New Testament Church of God today now has over 107 branches and is the most important legacy of Rev. Lyseight’s work.
