Description
Orestes and Pylades disputing at the altar. The two friends are standing left of the altar on which branches are burning. Left the executioner is waiting holding a club. On the right Iphigeneia recognises her brother Orestes. A girl is throwing flowers at her feet. A large group of people has gathered around the altar. Left a girl ties a festoon of flowers to the altar. Right the statue of Artemis is standing. On a hill in the background stands a round temple dedicated to Artemis from which a long procession makes its way to the altar.
