English: On May 14th, 2022, still in the spirit of Eid Al-Fitr, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia hosted a function for the diplomatic corps and Government officials of Brunei Darussalam. The event was carried out at the Indonesian Ambassador Residence starting at 10.30, attended by around 200 peoples and conducted in accordance with health protocols in Brunei Darussalam, such as checking body temperature and providing hand sanitizers.

The event was arranged in three functions. The first was for businesses and non-government officials and the second was for high ranking officials of Brunei Darussalam. Meanwhile, the third was representatives from Indonesian diaspora in Brunei Darussalam.

Several cabinet Ministers attended the gathering, such as Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Minister of Home Affairs, and Minister of Defense II, and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also presence were senior officials from the Government of Brunei Darussalam and Ambassador of Foreign Countries in Brunei Darussalam.

The presence of Brunei Darussalam entrepreneurs, especially importers of Indonesian products, academics, influencers, also added the lively to the event. Their presence shows the tight cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam in all sectors.

Ambassador Sujatmiko expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all the guests who came to the event. The diplomatic banquet activities are intended to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam and also other countries, as well as being a means of promoting Indonesia through the display of decorations at Wisma Duta and the Indonesian culinary.

“Still in the atmosphere of Eid, I would like to wish you a Happy Eid Al-Fitr 1443 H., Taqabbalallaahu minnaa wa minkum taqabbal yaa kariim. Hopefully, this meeting will further enhance the ties of friendship and also strengthen bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam."

The attendees were pampered with various Indonesian culinary dishes such as lontong cap gomeh, bakso, and pecel. A variety of traditional Indonesian cakes were also served. Dishes that attracted a lot of attention from the guests were 'jamu' (traditional herbal drink made from natural ingredients such as turmeric, Kaempferia, ginger, etc.). This traditional herbal drink with its lot benefits has become the center of attention for it is rare and difficult to find in Brunei.

The COVID-19 situation in Brunei Darussalam is currently under control after experiencing the third wave due to the Omicron variant. As of May 13 2022, the total number of cases recorded was 144.136 cases with details 1.598 active cases, 142.318 recovered cases, and 95 death cases​
