English: Handmade pottery vessel. The exterior is painted dark brown with a solid band around the rim. There are two decorative horizontal bands on the body with intervening decoration. From Tall-i Bakun (Tall-e Bakun), southern Iran. 4500-4000 BCE. British Museum. In modern southern Iran, bold geometric designs on pale backgrounds dominated while in the north, dark red backgrounds were preferred.
