Summary

Description

The Royal Australian Navy destroyer HMAS Quality (G62) underway at sea, circa in late 1945. Quality was transferred to the RAN on 8 October 1945 and was already decommissioned on 25 January 1946.

The breeches of her four 4.7 inch Mark IX guns are covered as is the quadruple 2 pounder AA gun abaft the funnel. Note the two 20 mm Oerlikon AA guns mounted on the starboard side of the searchlight platform amidships. The searchlight itself has been replaced by a type 272 radar lantern. A type 291 radar aerial is fitted at the masthead and a type 285 aerial mounted above the high angle director tower at the back of the bridge. The ship is painted in an admiralty standard camouflage scheme but the hull panel, which normally extended only to the end of the after superstructure, has been continued to the stern.
