Description
English: Looking North-West from the Ponte degli Scalzi to the Fondamenta della Croce (left side in the background), with Chiesa degli Scalzi (right) and San Simeone Piccolo (left); one of Canaletto's most carefully conceived and executed large pictures, with control of lighting and perspectival effects and incidental details. The domed 18th-century church of S. Simeone Piccolo (SS. Simeone e Giuda), was rebuilt by Scalfarotto and consecrated in 1738.
