Description
Nederlands: Dit kasteel, gelegen in de Neercauter, aldaer bij de Senne bestond uit een groot steynehuys van plaîsance, alomme omwaetert en den uytten waeter opgemetst ende staende in breede hofgrachten. Het omwaterde kasteel heete : Carmosteyn, Kermansteyn, Kermanshuys. Aannemelijk is dat het goed zijn naam te danken heeft aan de oude adellijke Mechelse familie Kar- of Kerremans, welke eeuwen lang er in bezit van was. Van den beginne af zou het een stenen bouw zijn geweest, met bijvoeging van de naam van de bezitters, werd dat van af de 13de eeuw Karmansteyn, en vervolgens bij verbastering Carmosteyn.
