Description
English: Hatchment, St Mary the Virgin, East Barnet, Hertfordshire, to Frederick Cass (1787-1861) of Little Grove, Hertfordshire, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire 1844–5, whose eldest son was Rev. Frederick Charles Cass, Rector of Hadley and a local historian, author of East Barnet, Westminster 1885-92[1]. He married Martha Potter (d.1870) of Ponder's End (West Middlesex Marriage Index Transcription. findmypast.co.uk Retrieved 23 August 2015) Martha died at Chester Terrace, Regent's Park, on 5 July 1870. The Good Shepherd Window at St Mary the Virgin church in Monken Hadley was placed in memory of Martha by her son Frederick Cass. Arms: Per chevron or and ermine, on a chevron sable between two eagle's heads erased gules in chief and a garb proper in base a harrow of the first between two fountains (Cass) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.175); impaling: Sable, a fess ermine between three cinquefoils argent (Potter) (Burke, p.817; http://www.stmarys-eastbarnet.org.uk/?page_id=192)
