It has excellent cutting machines, planers, planing machines, etc. which are driven by two Rustoc Lincoln engines of 40 and 45 H. P. respectively. The impression produced by the sawmill in full activity is grandiose. It is a real beehive where work is carried out with enthusiasm and hard work. There, the wood that comes from the islands, undergoes in a few minutes remarkable transformations, passing from one machine to another, until the planks are formed, which are then placed in large tanks like the one in the photograph that illustrates this page, where they are a t. longer or shorter, depending on the type of crates to be made. The internal organisation of the sawmill is excellent, with a perfect harmony between thrones and workers, which is a good proof of the liberal spirit that adorns Mr. Tamagni. F of the senior office staff of which Mr. Ignacio A. Palmeyro is the first employer, the sawmill has 150 workers. It has its own islands where it supplies itself with raw material, apart from what it acquires from island producers. The sawmill "La Helvecía" attends to orders from the capital, as well as from the interior of the country, especially from Santa Fe, Tucumán, Corcloba, San Juan, Mendoza, Ríos, Salta and Catamarca. In the neighbouring Republic of Uruguay it also has quite a few clients.
