This house is located in the small town of Raymond, MS. It was built in 1853 by a Dr. H.T.T. Dupree with lumber given to him by his stepfather John A. Fairchild. During the war this house was used by the Union army to medically attend to their soldiers. In 1877, Dr. H.T.T. and Margaret Dupree exchanged this house for 1,100 acres of property outside of Raymond. This house has a blend of Greek Revival and Italianate motifs making it distinct and architecturally significant. This house was also used as a school hospital after the Battle of Raymond in 1863. Then in the later 19th century it was used as a military academy by Capt. Wm Thomas Ratliff. There was a fire in 1929 that caused the original, low, hip roof to be replaced with a gable roof. This house is a Historical Landmark and an important part of Civil War history.
